History.
The refuge, purchased by the French Alpine Club in 1930, is a former chalet used for summer grazing, situated in the heart of a little mountain village. Formerly, the peasants practiced transhumance to the Platé, bringing their cows together with some other farm animals such as pigs and hens and spending the entire summer in the chalet.
During the last war, the chalet was occupied by members of the maquis.
Renovated three times, it was guarded in summer for the first time in 1975 and enlarged in 2000 with the installation of photovoltaic lighting.
Currently, only Pierrot the shepherd brings his 300 sheep up to the Platé and we, our two female donkeys, Nanette and Fifine, as well as some hens… Thus the Platé retains its use as summer pasture!
